WHat's Phantom Ball?

 

  • Phantom Ball is a spiritual successor to Super Monkey Ball, a physics-based arcade platformer on the PC. The game provides 10 levels spread out over a world. Players will play as a spirit-like character who is in a ball known as “the Phantom”, a Puffy Jacket wearing Energy AI in a ball who is placed into stages and they must navigate through platforming challenges towards the goal without falling off or running out of time. The simple and colorful art style makes it suitable for all ages, especially players from 12 to 18 years old due to potential difficulty. 
     

  • The game will have a simple and cartoony art style, comparable to Super Mario Odyssey. Like Super Monkey Ball the platforms will have checked platforms of analogous colour schemes that somewhat overlay the texture of the platform.

Menu System

What i have done so far in this trimester were art design and illustration with the main concentration on level editor and programming. I am quite satisfied with I have been doing to contribute for the project in this trimester. Some sketches of level design were given to me by Andrew and I worked diligently toward level prototype for the game. All implementation was made after audio and 3D platform models were given to me by Seth and Deniz. Here are some illustration pictures for the game.  

  • The diagram showed how menu system works in the game

  • Since there game is relatively short and can be played in short bursts, there is no real need for a saving system.
